Today was my first day at my new job. Lots of new hire type work for the day, lots of forms to fill out and documents to read. It was really too much for my brain during that time so it rebelled and started to hurt at 2pm. However it got better because that was when the toys began to arrive. First it was the laptop, Thinkpad T43, not shabby(but not super new either), its much lighter than my last work laptop(my back is happy again) and a bit faster. Then a couple hours later came two(yes 2) Dell 24″ widescreen monitors(I drooled a little) and to complete it a new workstation with a video card to drive both of those beasts at once. A fun day for me, toys toys toys.
It looks like this is going to be a fun job(not just based on the toy count) and keep me busy while I’m there.

I frequent public daily parking lots to my travels to and from NYC and the offenses commited in the pictures detailed on that Flickr account are amusing yet frustrating to me. A couple months ago someone did some nice damage to my passenger side door. I have not fixed it yet but the cost is going to run around $600. I should make car length foam dividers that extend out from under the body to protect the finish from the careless, cellphone talking, reckless door swinging commuter.

I bought a white MacBook this week. Its the 2Ghz, 512Mb RAM, 60 Gig HD model. So far so good with this machine. Honestly, I was pretty concerned with going for this model because of its “glossy” screen. However, so far so good with the screen. Glare has not been an issue with the locations I have used it so far.

The secondary concern I had was the built-in webcam(oh so creepy). I found translucent sign here sticker. With a little trimming it covers the Mic and iSight perfectly. I was not expecting to completely cut off the microphone’s reception however it seems that it does not hear any thing now(except when I tap on the laptop case). Sweet.
