Can I get a w00t?
I just was able to sync my ipaq up to evolution on linux. I guess my Palm V is going to grow dust again now. I have been wanting to make this work for months and now it finally works.
The ipaq kernel module needed some modification to work but I’ll update this post with the patch later.
Update:
Patching the kernel module:
File: drivers/usb/serial/ipaq.c
Line 157: .num_bulk_in = 1,
Line 158: .num_bulk_out = 1,
Line 159: .num_ports = 1,
The basis of those changes I snagged from from of the ipaq.c patches from the synce project. Unfortunately none of the patches they provide work properly so I took the core functionality of the patch and made it fit to the newer kernels.
Making synce work:
-Make sure that the synce interfaces file says: /dev/ttyUSB0 (this might be different if you have multiple serial usb devices but I do not know currently)
-Kill off any sort of text based passwords on the ipaq(it just doesn’t work for me, it might for you)
-start up: dccm(the ppc connection daemon): I currently start it up in verbose/non-daemon mode like this: dccm -d 3 -r -f
-Put the ipaq in the cradle(you should be able to see something about that in logs)
-as root run synce-serial-start
If all goes well a link will be established from ipaq to linux.
Now you can use multisync and the synce plugin for it to sync to evolution. I know that the latest packages in debian unstable worked for me.
Whoo late birthday present.
I went down the shore yesterday to visit my family which was nice. As I left my grandfather gave me my late birthday present. Rino 120 a GPS with builtin FRS/GMRS radios. Not only that but it included the pc link cable so wardriving/walking has just gotten better.
Now its Dave’s birthday today, Andrea and I got him a XBox so go to him to play video games now.
Today I started to mess with my SBC it cost $190 bucks but it seems to have some potential for amusement. In lab today we had to solder on a few connectors and stick on the bread board. Unfortunately the guy who sells the mostly pre-assembled boards forgot to put a serial cable in mine so I spent much time after lab making a working cable out of a dumb terminal adaptor and a network cable. Eventually I got it to work(once I drew a diagram… duh) and then I went to town coding a little program to make it count in binary on the leds on board.
Andrea and I went to the Newark Bears game tonight. The Bears lost pretty badly but it was still fun.We got free tickets through GoNewarkU they gave us pretty good tickets(better than NJIT has) and money to get food. It was pretty fun and the stadium is not nearly as far as I thought it was. I think I will walk downtown more often since there seems to be some stuff down there to do.
Zzzzz time
